Additional Pays & Benefits
- Education and Certification Incentive Pay: Officers are eligible for both the Education and the Certification Incentive pay. 1. Education Incentive Pay: At the highest single degree level as follows: Bachelor’s Degree $100 per month and Master’s Degree $200 per month. 2. Certification Incentive Pay: TCOLE Intermediate Certification $50 per month, TCOLE Advanced Certification $100 per month, TCOLE Masters Certification $150 per month.
- Special Duty Assignment Pay: Officers who have successfully completed their probationary period and hold the rank of police officer, corporal or sergeant may be assigned by the Chief to perform Special Duties. Special duties shall be assigned on an as needed basis by the Chief at his or her sole discretion. Categories and compensation: 1. Field Training Officer Assignment: An official "duty assignment" for a limited duration. Compensated at $35 per shift.
2. Instructor: Officers who are certified TCOLE Instructors, teaching an in-service class, receive an additional $35 per day when conducting training.
3. Officer in Charge Pay: In the absence of the Sergeant, an Officer may be asked to act in their place. When this acting duty is anticipated to last a full shift or more, the Officer will be compensated in additional $35 per shift.
- Longevity Pay: Officers receive $1,000 per year, paid in December.
- PT Assessment (optional): Officers may choose to undergo a physical fitness assessment developed by the department, each summer. Upon the successful completion of the assessment, the Officer will receive and additional $1,000 benefit.
- Shift Differential Pay: Officers assigned the 6P-6A shift receive an additional $150/month.
Holidays: a. Ten approved holidays, hours determined by normal shift assignment. b. Officers assigned to the Patrol Division whose assigned shift begins when an actual holiday falls, will be paid double time pay for that shift.
